Welcome to my website! You're likely sick of reading bios by music and entertainment journalists who talk about all of the celebrities they've
interviewed, boondoggles they've scored and awards they've won. I was a hiring editor at a magazine for years so believe me, I know.
Rather than outline the details of my career - which I could do but really, at this stage do you care? And if you do, please
check out my biography page -- let me just tell you that I'm a music and entertainment journalist. I love to write but still
think of myself as as a reporter (blame my years at Gannett Newspapers, US News & World Report, and Reuters for that, I guess).
Lucky me, Relix, Blurt, YRB, M Music & Musicians, No Depression, and other publications give me assignments (and
pay me! Imagine!) to write reviews and advances. Like all self-absorbed journalists, I also spend hours fine tuning opinion
pieces. Still, my heart belongs to in-depth profiles and Q&As. Let's be honest - talking to musicians (and actors and
celebrity chefs) is everyone's dream job because we get to find out a bit about their artistic process, and also just get a glimpse "behind the music...(or curtain...or stove"). I mean, lucky me, right?
Although we're just getting to know each other and I want to make a good impression, it's likely only fair to mention that I
am a bit of a stickler about a few things. I don't write gossip; it's just not my thing. I don't fudge attribution. Believe me,
I've been asked. And if I find a solid, honest, responsive editor who takes the job seriously but doesn't rewrite to bump up the sensationalism, I will work for them anytime, anywhere.
